• Lessons are held during daylight hours and in the evening under floodlight in our large outdoor menage.

• We are a small friendly yard, which is how we like to be as it means we have a happy relaxed feel and everyone gets to know each other personally.

We have a maximum of 6 in any lesson, so everybody gets plenty of feedback and attention.

We only have two instructors, both of whom have been with us for a long time. As far as possible we make sure you have the same instructor for your lessons as they get to know you and your riding style allowing your riding to progress.

We have a selection of safe, sensible and happy horses and ponies of varying size on the school, which means riders get to ride a variety of horses to improve their skills. The horses are all fit and healthy and have annual vet inspections to ensure they remain fit. They are not used for more than 4 hours a day, in fact weekdays they usually only do one ride each. They also have at least two complete days off a week to ensure they are well rested and don’t “switch off” to the rider.

We adjust the lessons to suit the individual riders, with safety being a priority.  Beginner children start off on the lead rein till they can balance and happily control their ponies. Adult lessons are never rushed, with no rider being pressurised to go faster than they are ready for (unlike other riding schools where riders are asked to canter to early, like running before you can walk!).

As soon as any rider adult or child is happy riding in walk and trot, then we do not follow each other “nose to tail”, but have each rider working their own horse individually within the school. This not only keeps the horses interested in the rider, but also teaches the rider to control their own horse and be aware of what is going on around them.
